Stoke man arrested for 'attempted arson' following bungalow fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested following a bungalow fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Police and fire crews went to an address on Leamington Gardens just before 4pm on Sunday (12 November).

The bungalow was well-alight and the fire was extinguished.

A woman in her 90s and a man in his 50s were taken to hospital for precautionary checks following the blaze (Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service).

A 33-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life. 

He has since been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
