Affordable Food, based in Blurton, are planning to supply 51 families with Christmas dinners this month.

This follows on from their successful scheme last year, where they made 50 complete Christmas care packages for families.

The packages included turkey and ham (donated by Jacksons Butchers), lots of vegetables, pigs in blankets, gravy, stuffing and sauces.

They also supplied fresh fruit and enough ambient food to see a family into the new year.

Bags sent out to families last year (Affordable Food).

The packages will be the same this year, but for even more families which come from referrals from partner organisations such as the police and social services.

As well as Christmas dinner, Affordable Food will also be providing presents to hundreds of children in the city.

COO Duane Barrett said: "It is a huge undertaking, but the opportunity to bring a little Christmas cheer and happiness to families, and families that are really struggling is truly a gift."

People can get involved by donating from their Amazon wishlist, or by purchasing extra presents and dropping them into the foodbank at 77-81 Meaford Drive, Blurton.
