A domestic abuse charity based in Stoke-on-Trent is expanding the support it provides to survivors of domestic abuse with social and wellbeing activities.

Glow, part of Honeycomb Group, is on a mission to end domestic abuse. The charity works across Staffordshire and Derbyshire delivering support to women, men and children impacted by abusive relationships. This includes emergency safe accommodation, relationship education sessions in schools and prevention work with perpetrators.

Last year Glow launched the Recovery Hub thanks to funding from the National Lottery. The new service is a safe space for women to rebuild their lives after experiencing an abusive relationship.

As part of their recovery support, the Recovery Hub team have launched a series of social and wellbeing activities. Sessions include yoga, sound baths and coffee mornings. They offer a safe space for women to come together, make new connections, increase their confidence and have fun.

Domestic Abuse Practitioner, Emma Jacques, said: "Wellbeing activities like this are such an important part of our work at Glow's Recovery Hub. They bring survivors together in a fun and relaxed way. This helps them to build social connections and increase their confidence, which are key parts of their recovery journey."

The most recent activity was a sewing workshop, where several women came together to create a make-up bag.

Emma continued: "Our sewing workshop was a huge success. It was a relaxing, enjoyable activity that brought everyone together. There was so much support and guidance among the attendees which was lovely to see.

"It gave our customers such a sense of achievement and a real feeling of accomplishment. They were able to create something from scratch that they could take home and keep – it was brilliant.

"We're already looking forward to the next workshop and the rest of our wellbeing activities."
