A Staffordshire police officer has been dismissed following a gross misconduct hearing.

On Thursday 1 October, the officer attended a gross misconduct hearing chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Paul Talbot, where an allegation of gross misconduct was found proven.

Earlier this year, a court imposed a restraining order for the protection of three people known to the officer.

The order prevents the officer making contact or indirect contact with them and from attending their home address or educational establishments, apart from through social services or an authorised person named on the order.

It was determined at the hearing that the officer had breached the standard of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct.

Deputy Chief Constable Caroline Marsh said: "The public rightly expect officers to act with integrity and off-duty conduct that requires a court-approved order seriously undermines trust in policing.

"We are committed to maintaining the confidence of the communities we serve.

"When officers fail to meet the standards expected of them, we will take robust action to ensure they are held accountable for their behaviour."
