A care home in the Staffordshire Moorlands is no longer in special measures following its latest inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Wall Hill Care Home in Leek was inspected by the CQC from 14 October to 26 November 2025 and received an overall rating of requires improvement.

The latest inspection came after the care home was placed in special measures following a previous inspection, which took place from 20 March to 20 May 2025.

During this inspection, Wall Hill Care Home was found to be in breach of four legal regulations: safe care and treatment, person-centred care, safeguarding people from abuse, and good governance.

The latest CQC report stated that the care home has improved since the last inspection and is no longer in special measures.

The report said: "The provider had made significant improvements since the last inspection, including improvements to monitoring systems and the management of medicines.

"Safeguarding practices had also improved, particularly within areas such as incident monitoring and referrals.

"However, further improvements were needed when escalating concerns to healthcare professionals and ensuring care plans accurately reflected people's current needs."

At the most recent inspection, the residential care home, which provides support to older people, people living with mental health conditions, physical disabilities and dementia, was rated good in the 'Effective', 'Caring' and 'Responsive' categories.

However, they received a rating of requires improvement in the 'Well-led' and 'Safe' categories, leading to an overall requires improvement rating.

The report said: "Leadership and governance had improved since the last inspection, with a stronger focus on person-centred care.

"While further development was needed in areas such as care planning, monitoring and internal communication, leaders demonstrated a commitment to learning and improvement.

"New systems and initiatives had been introduced, and staff described a more positive culture.

"The provider had made significant progress, and there was a clear direction towards continued improvement."

The inspectors also reported how people and relatives had described improvements in care and support.

The report said: "People told us staff were kind, compassionate and respectful in their approach.

"They felt listened to and supported in ways that reflected their individual needs and preferences."

The report added: "Relatives shared how staff promoted independence and encouraged their family members to do as much as they could for themselves.

"Relatives described staff as responsive during times of distress or emergency and felt reassured by the care provided.

"Overall, feedback from people and relatives reflected a caring culture."

The people and relatives that spoke to the inspectors also described the care as "person-centred, inclusive, and responsive to individual needs".

The report concluded: "While people expressed general satisfaction with their care and treatment, our assessment found elements of care required further improvement."

Wall Hill Care Home has been approached for comment.
