With daily menu changes, the chefs at Adlington Retirement Living communities - including Brookfields House in Newcastle-under-Lyme - make the most of fresh ingredients, offering homeowners plenty of variety throughout the week.

Familiar favourites sit alongside dishes inspired by flavours from around the world, providing opportunities to try something new while providing meals to suit every taste.

One of Adlington's chefs, Linda, said: "Planning a menu is about far more than choosing individual dishes.

"We think about balance, variety and seasonality, creating meals that people genuinely look forward to enjoying.

The restaurants in Adlington Retirement Living locations are often described as the "heart of the community".

The restaurants host themed evenings, showcasing international cuisines and celebrating events like the Oscars.

Homeowner Anne has attended several of the themed dining evenings: "The chef puts on regular speciality nights. We've had a Turkish theme, a Greek theme, a French night, an Italian night, we had a party with an Oscars theme; we've had them all!

"When we have these speciality evenings, we all try to get dressed up in the colours of the country and the restaurant gets dressed up in those colours as well, it's wonderful."

Homeowners Trevor and Rob explained that they regularly enjoy sharing freshly cooked roasts on Sundays with other homeowners, friends and family.

"I tend to eat in the restaurant two or three times a week and on Sundays I usually have either my sister or friends come for lunch with me here," Trevor commented.

Rob added: "Being part of the community is a huge plus. Yesterday's Sunday roast was superb. I wrote it in the comments book; I like to give praise when it is deserved."

Homeowner Lesley said that she and her friends regularly choose to dine in the on-site restaurant, as opposed to at any other location.

She said: "Every time I bring a friend round, they say, 'Oh, this is like a lovely hotel.' And if I ask them where they'd like to go for lunch, they always prefer to come to the restaurant here."

Homeowners Elaine and Richard also praised the restaurant saying: "The restaurant is fantastic. The quality of the food is excellent and there's always plenty of choice."
