A popular snooker and pool club in Stoke-on-Trent opened the doors to its brand-new extension yesterday (17 May).

Longton Snooker and Pool Club, on Normacot Road, has been running for 40 years and currently has over 2,000 members, including two who have previously represented England internationally.

In January 2024, the club was granted permission to extend its premises by changing the use of a building on Chadwick Street.

In the extension there is an extra seven pool tables and five darts boards (Zak Shepherd).

Manager, Zak Shepherd, told Nub News: "In the extension we've got an extra seven pool tables and an extra five darts boards - it's a decent sized space.

"It's also meant that we can do the beer garden too so we've got loads of outdoor seating and a 98 inch TV with audio and speakers.

"We've just invested in Sky Sports too so we will be showing the Euro's and pool and snooker games when they're on."

Longton Snooker and Pool Club will also be showing the big fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.

The club is open 10am-late every day (Nub News).

Zak continued: "We're very much a community club, we have junior darts and pool clubs, the local chess club plays from our function room we hold league nights for darts and much more - This extension will really help us give them more space, but also get more people playing the sports.

"We've got so many young people getting involved, using the sport as their social life, the extension will really help us meet increasing demand."

The club hosted an opening night last night (17 May) for members only, but an open pool tournament is taking place all weekend and anyone is welcome to take part.

As part of the extension, the bar has also been extended, meaning the club's huge range of draught lagers, real ales, non-alcoholic options and soft drinks are available throughout the club.

Longton Snooker and Pool Club is open 10am-late everyday.
