The reopening of a busy road in Stoke-on-Trent has been delayed until next month due to "unforeseen drainage works".

Weston Road is currently closed between the Park Hall junction and the city boundary at Leek Road.

In a post on X, Stoke-on-Trent City Council confirmed this morning that the road reopening will be delayed until Monday 9 September.

The council wrote: "The contractors are working hard to limit any further delay. 

"We thank all road users for their patience during this time."
