Stoke-on-Trent City Council are pausing bin collections between Christmas and New Year to give hard-working bin men a break.

Residents will receive normal collections up to and including Friday 23 December.

Collections will not start again until Monday 2 January.

To make up for this break, residents can leave up to two additional black bags of household waste and one bag of mixed recycling when the service resumes.

To find out which bin will be collected from Monday 2 January, visit the bin day calender.

Councillor Carl Edwards, cabinet member for housing and environment, said: "Our bin men do a fantastic job. We think they deserve some time off at Christmas to spend with their family and recharge their batteries.

"Our Hanford tip will be open from Wednesday 28 December until New Years Eve and our Burslem tip will be open on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 December for residents who want to dispose of their rubbish before we start collecting again."

Opening times can be found here

Brown bin collections will start again on 3 April 2023.
