Police appeal for information following 'large' fire in Tunstall

Staffordshire Police is appealing for information following a "large fire" in Tunstall earlier today (Friday 29 May).

It comes after Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to High Street, Tunstall at 5.15am today (29 May) following reports of smoke coming from a building.

Six appliances including an aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene where firefighters extinguished a large fire at a "derelict building" and rescued four kittens.

Staffordshire Police also attended the scene after they were called at 5.25am.

The High Street remains closed while firefighters continue to dampen down hotspots.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters have extinguished a large fire at a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent.

They added: "The fire was extinguished using the ALP, four main jets and two hose reel jets.

"Four kittens were also rescued from the building.

"Crews remain at the scene dampening down hotspots and an investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course."

Staffordshire Police explained that an investigation is ongoing, and the force is appealing for information.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for information following a large fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

"We were called at 5.25am today (Friday 29 May) to High Street in Tunstall following reports of a fire.

"Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"High Street remains closed whilst firefighters work to dampen down hotspots.

"Our investigation is ongoing.

"We are appealing for anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact us. Call 101, quoting incident 112 of 29 May, or use Live Chat on our website.
