Police are appealing for information following repeated incidents of criminal damage at a Stoke-on-Trent crematorium.

Staffordshire Police explained that "significant damage" has been caused across Carmountside Crematorium on Leek Road.

Officers are now working alongside Stoke-on-Trent City Council to gather evidence and identify those responsible.

Inspector Victoria Ison, of the Stoke-on-Trent north local policing team (LPT) said: "We understand the far-reaching impact that this activity is having on people in the local area, particularly grieving families who are visiting the crematorium to pay respect to their loved ones.

"This behaviour is completely unacceptable, and we are actively carrying out enquiries to find out who is responsible.

Councillor Duncan Walker, cabinet member for safe and resilient communities at Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "This behaviour has no place in Stoke-on-Trent, and we are taking it extremely seriously.

"Our anti-social behaviour (ASB) team are working with Staffordshire Police to bring those responsible to justice and to support the wider community that have been affected.

"Residents concerned by ASB should immediately report it to the police, or you can email [email protected]."
