Plans for a brand-new 5G mast outside an independent living care village in Stoke-on-Trent have been refused this week.

CK Hutchinson Networks applied for permission to install a 5G telecoms mast and associated equipment cabinets on Foden Street, Stoke, in April 2023.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council recommended the plans for refusal this week, due to concerns about the mast's location outside West End Village, which is an independent living facility for residents who require 'extra care'.

Concerns were raised regarding the new mast's location outside a Stoke-on-Trent care village (Nub News).

A decision notice said: "The proposed telecommunications mast, by virtue of its siting, overall height and external appearance would result in an incongruous visually dominant structure to the detriment of both visual amenity and the outlook and amenity of adjoining neighbouring residential properties."
