Plans to build new student accommodation and refurbish existing facilities at Staffordshire University have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The university revealed proposals to create a new student village at its Leek Road site last month.

A planning application has now come forward. It proposes demolition of existing halls of residence, with a new campus park to be created on the land.

The planning application proposes a new campus park and educational, social and support space (Corstorphine & Wright).

New accommodation is earmarked for land off Lordship Lane, as well as educational, social and support space. And existing accommodation at Clarice Cliff Court is set be refurbished.

If the plans are approved the new development is expected to be ready for September 2025. A consultation event was held last month, where visitors had the chance to view artists' impressions of the new facilities, 3D models and even a virtual reality experience enabling them to put on a headset and "step inside" the proposed new hub building.
