Plans for 13 new flats above a vacant shop in Stoke-on-Trent have been rejected by the local council.

Mr Khan applied for permission in July 2023 to turn office and storage space above the former Discount Fashion Direct, on Church Street in Stoke, into 13 new flats.

He proposed a mixture of one and two-bedroom flats on the first and second floor of the building as well as 20 parking spaces for residents.

These plans were rejected by Stoke-on-Trent City Council on 13 February 2023, largely due to a lack of information provided on the application.

The plans were rejected by the council this week, largely due to a lack of information provided (Nub News).

An Officer's Report, published by the council, states: "The development as proposed is considered to be poor. There is a question over the accuracy of the plans.

"Further the application is lacking in clarity and relevant information has not been submitted, rendering full assessment of the development difficult.

"Information relating to this application is not of a sufficient standard to enable the case officer and others involved in the process to fully assess what is proposed.

"The application does not provide a clear and unequivocal illustration upon which the application can be determined.

The applicant wanted to transform the first and second floors of the building into 13 new flats (Nub News).

"The Applicant has failed to adequately demonstrate how the building would provide acceptable residential accommodation, having regard for residential amenity, the external appearance of the building and the conservation area setting.

"It is therefore reasoned that the application does not provide a clear and unequivocal illustration upon which the application can be positively determined."
