Plans for a brand-new flat above a popular takeaway in Meir have been approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The applicant, Mr Rafique, applied for permission back in February to convert office and staff amenity space above Caprinos, on Weston Road, into a residential flat.

The new flat will take over the first and second floors of the building and two existing offices will become bedrooms.

The unit also already has two designated parking spaces, located to the rear of the takeaway.

These plans were approved by the council on 27 August after "no objections [were] received from Officers from Highways, Air Quality or Staffordshire Police, and the proposals raise no significant concern on those matters."

The council therefore concluded "the proposal is considered to be acceptable in terms of design, amenity and highway safety and would deliver sustainable development in accordance with the NPPF."
