Plans for two new electric vehicle (EV) chargers on the car park of a fast food restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent have been approved by the local council.

Instavolt applied for permission to install two EV charging stations and equipment including a green charging unit, a feeder pillar and underground cabling at McDonalds on Victoria Road, Fenton.

The charging stations will be "rapid charging" and three existing spaces would form the two new EV spaces.

The plans were given the green light by Stoke-on-Trent City Council on Thursday 23 May.

The applicant says the installation of the chargers and equipment should take around a week (Nub News).

Highways raised no objections to the plans, as long as the private road leading to McDonalds is not blocked during the works.

It was also noted by the council that "the installation of the two EV charging points would help to promote sustainable modes of transport and would modestly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions".

Instavolt say the whole installation will take around a week and should not interfere with local business.
