Package found at Stoke-on-Trent shopping centre found to be 'non-suspicious'

A package found at The Potteries Centre in Stoke-on-Trent has been found to be "non-suspicious and deemed as no risk to the public", say police.

Police were called to the shopping centre at 3.30pm this afternoon after a "suspicious package" was found. The centre was evacuated and Town Toad was closed.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Surrounding roads have now reopened.

"Officers would like to thank members of the public for their patience and support while this incident was dealt with."
