All lanes have reopened on the M6 after a spillage of offal on the road in the early hours of this morning.

Earlier in the day, lanes one, two and three closed on the M6 between junctions 14 (Stafford) and 15 (Stoke-on-Trent) northbound.

National Highways reported the incident this morning and said it was the result of a broken-down lorry spilling meat onto the carriageway at around 5:30am.

Thanks to the work of specialist crews, recovery is complete and the spillage has been cleared.

National Highways said "delays have eased but still remain around 20 minutes above normal journey times between J14 and J15.

"Thank you for your patience."
