New wellness studio could open at former pottery factory in Stoke-on-Trent

A new wellness studio could open at a former pottery factory if plans are considered fit for purpose by Stoke-on-Trent CIty Council.
The new facility, earmarked for ground floor space in one of the Spode Works buildings in Stoke, would be an extension of the Potbank development.
The site already includes a restaurant, aparthotel, offices and events spaces. And the the latest proposals submitted to the city council include two studio rooms, two clinics and a reception space.
A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said: "The wellness studio will bring significant benefits to the local community and economy. By offering health and wellness services, the studio will contribute to the well-being of residents and workers in the area.
"The business improves access to heath and wellness facilities missing in the area – for example there is a high demand for reformer Pilates but very limited good quality options for locals. The development also aligns with the Stoke Town Master Plan, which emphasizes the importance of the Spode site as a catalyst for local regeneration.

"The wellness studio will host regular community events, such as wellness workshops, open days, and educational talks, providing opportunities for social interaction and community building. By creating a welcoming space for all, the studio will contribute to the social cohesion of the area, helping to foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose among residents and visitors alike.
"The project supports job creation by expanding Pivot Therapies' operations, leading to new employment opportunities in the wellness and therapy sectors. The business currently employs three local freelancers and the owner.
"The new studio will create three new highly skilled FTE (full time equivalent) jobs and sustain several freelancers. The business (is) situated near University of Staffordshire, who provide a sports therapy course, which is an opportunity for future collaboration and a source of talent."
