New mental health group in Stoke-on-Trent hoping to help young men create a 'clean slate'

A new mental health support group for young men has been established in Stoke-on-Trent.
Clean Slate aims to offer support for young men in the city through physical activity such as football, boxing, running and gym sessions.
The organisation was founded by a group of local 20-year-olds: Lewis Martin, the head of Clean Slate, alongside Callum Wiggins, Lucas Phillips and Owen Harrison.
Callum Wiggins said: "Personally I believe Clean Slate is important for these young men because it's a safe place they can go and not feel judged or feel out of place.
"Clean Slate is a second home for these young men to rewind, rebuild and reshape who they want to be.
"We believe there was a lack of support around the area which is why we wanted to take it into our own hands and give these young men a chance to reach out and receive the support they are asking for."
Since Clean Slate was established in March this year, around 40 to 50 young men have taken part in sessions run by the group.
The group hopes that they will continue to reach more young men across the city and provide them with a place to talk, unwind and spend time with likeminded young people.
Callum added: "We want to help young men believe that they aren't just a number in society, but they are also a person we acknowledge and understand."
