A new cocktail bar could open in Hanley if plans are given the thumbs up by the city council.

An application to change the use of the ground floor of Piccadilly House to a drinking establishment has come forward.

In recent years the building in Piccadilly has been used as an NHS drop-in centre, a heritage statement submitted as part of the application said.

It added: "The application seeks to improve a highly considered building in the City Centre Conservation Area by utilising the ground floor and front part of the first floor as a cocktail bar to complement the other existing leisure offerings on the street.

"There is no proposal to make any alterations to the upper floors of the building. The top floor and rear part of the first floor will remain as offices.
