Mobile theme park set to return to Stoke-on-Trent this February
By Liana Snape 9th Feb 2026
A family-run mobile theme park is returning to Stoke-on-Trent City Centre this February half-term.
After a "brilliant response" last year the Matthews Family, who also operate Stoke-on-Trent's Winter Wonderland, have decided to open Funderworld for a second year.
The family who run the business, which has operated mobile theme parks since 2016, are local to Stoke-on-Trent and explained that they "love operating in this city".
Michelle Matthews, co-owner, said: "We were blown away by the support and the footfall that came here.
"It was humbling because as we're a local family business and without the support, we can't continue.
"But people came along, they loved the concept, they loved the idea."
Funderworld will return to Lichfield Street in Hanley, the same site used for Winter Wonderland, for an additional weekend this year.
The mobile theme park will also feature new rides and attractions.
Michelle said: "This is definitely not a typical fun fair; it's a mobile theme park.
"There are so many rides and attractions.
"We have Air Max, which is 50 metres high. There are only eight in the world and this is the only one in the UK.
"Red Devil is going to be here and we've got Extreme, which has never been seen in Stoke-on-Trent before."
Funderworld caters to more than just thrill seekers with a range of children's rides, including a "huge" fun house, alongside fairground games and food stalls.
Michelle explained that entry to Funderworld is free meaning those who don't want to ride the attractions can accompany their friends and family and "soak up the atmosphere".
Funderworld is free to enter and will be open from Thursday 12 February to Sunday 22 February and again from Thursday 26 February to Sunday 1 March.
Unlimited riding tickets are available to pre-book, or can be purchased at the venue. Tokens will also be available to purchase.
