Staffordshire could experience thunderstorms later today according to a recent weather warning.

At 10am today (26 May), the Met Office reported that "isolated intense thunderstorms could bring disruption to a few places" across Staffordshire.

The yellow warning starts at 3pm and will end at 10pm this evening.

According to the warning:

  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur this could cause delays or cancellations to bus and train services
  • There is a slight chance power cuts could occur and other services to businesses and homes could be lost
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could flood quickly with damage being caused by floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
