Meir man charged after assaulting four police officers in Stoke-on-Trent

A man from Meir has been charged after four police officers were assaulted after stopping a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

Harry Williams, 32, has been charged with ten offences:

  • four counts of assaulting an emergency worker
  • possession of a knife in a public place
  • failing to provide a specimen for analysis
  • theft from a shop
  • making off without making payment
  • failing to stop when required by a constable
  • using a car without third party insurance

Four police officers were assaulted yesterday after they stopped a car on Dividy Road (Staffordshire Police).

It comes after officers stopped a car in the early hours of yesterday morning (19 February) at the junction of Dividy Road and Werrington Road.

Four officers were assaulted in the incident, but thankfully none of them were seriously injured.

A metal bar and a knife were also found following a search.

Williams is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (20 February).
