A man has been taken to hospital with "potentially serious injuries" following a collision on the M6 between junctions 15 and 14 last night.

Emergency services were called to the M6 Southbound at around 3am this morning and two lanes were temporarily closed.

A social media post from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One man was trapped in van by steering wheel and now removed from vehicle by fire service crews and transported to hospital by ambulance crew".

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the van, he was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries.

"He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Royal Stoke Hospital for further assessment."
