A man has been jailed for over five years following a stabbing in Stoke-on-Trent.
Ahmad El Abd, 28, of Harrow, Middlesex, was sentenced to five-years-and-four-months in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday 9 October.
He admitted Section 18 – wounding with intent and possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.
PC Brittany Astley, of the City Proactive Team, led the investigation.
She said: "Despite Abd claiming he had acted in self defence, we worked tirelessly to gather evidence that proved this was an unnecessary, violent attack.
"We are committed to tackling knife crime and taking robust action against those who carry and use weapons across Stoke-on-Trent and wider Staffordshire."
It comes after Staffordshire Police was called to The Parkway in Hanley, following reports of a stabbing in November 2024.
Officers found the victim, a man in his 40s, with injuries.
The victim was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.
Staffordshire Police launched an investigation and Abd was identified as the suspect and interviewed.
