A 22-year-old man has been jailed after he was caught doing wheelies and donuts on a stolen quad bike in Stoke-on-Trent.

Devon Bentley pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle which had been taken without the owner's consent and driving a motor vehicle dangerously at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday (Thursday 26 February).

Staffordshire Police explained that Bentley was seen riding a quad bike "erratically" in Hanley in the early hours of Saturday (21 February).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "He narrowly missed people as he performed wheelies and donuts, all while not wearing a helmet and having a passenger on the back of the quad."

The quad he was riding was previously reported stolen from an address in Caverswall at about 3.40am on Friday 20 February.

The red Suzuki King is still missing and ongoing enquiries are taking place to track it down.

After he was arrested on Wednesday (25 February), Bentley was taken to court and pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

He has been jailed for seven months, disqualified from driving for one year, and ordered to take an extended re-test.
