Man arrested after police officer 'dragged to the ground' in Stoke-on-Trent incident

A man has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted during an incident in Stoke-on-Trent.

Just after 11.30pm on Friday 5 July, police drove by a man stumbling on City Road, Fenton.

When they stopped to safeguard the man, an officer was dragged to the ground. She has since been to hospital and has a potentially fractured hand.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating of an emergency worker and common assault of an emergency worker.

A police officer was dragged to the ground during the incident on City Road (Nub News).

He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Anyone with any information that can help us with our enquiries is asked to get in touch, particularly those with CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage of the area at the time.
