Man arrested after dog dies in 'deliberate' Newcastle house fire

A man has been arrested following a house fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme which has been deemed deliberate.

Police and fire crews attended an address on Wereton Road, Audley, just before 8.30am on Thursday (30 November).

The house was well alight and sadly, a dog inside the address died as a result.

A 30-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested on suspicion of arson.

He has since been released on conditional police bail as investigations continue.
