A man was left seriously injured following a crash on the M6 yesterday evening (5 October).

At around 10:06pm, West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the southbound carriageway between junctions 16 and 15, near Madeley.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a critical care car from Midlands Air Ambulance and a North Staffordshire BASICS doctor responded to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "The driver of a van, a man, was trapped in the vehicle and was found with serious injuries.

"Ambulance staff worked closely with fire colleagues to extricate him from the vehicle whilst he received trauma care.

"Once stabilised, the man was conveyed on blue lights and sirens to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care.

"The driver of a second vehicle, a man, suffered non-serious injuries and was conveyed to the same hospital for precautionary checks."
