A local drug and alcohol recovery service celebrated its 10th anniversary at this year's Recovery Awards celebration.
The Stoke Recovery Service award ceremony, held at Port vale Football Club on 28 November, recognised individuals who have made positive changes in their lives, alongside the staff, volunteers, and partner organisations who have supported them on their journey.
This year's event also marked 10 years of Stoke Recovery Service which is part of the Community Drug and Alcohol Service (CDAS), delivered by WithYou and BAC O'Connor and commissioned by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Emma Roden, Service Manager at Stoke Recovery Service, said: "The Recovery Awards remind us that recovery isn't just about drugs or alcohol - it's about rebuilding lives, families and communities.
"Every person recognised tonight has shown extraordinary courage, and every partner here has played an important role in making that possible."
The evening was attended by guests from across the city's recovery community, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, and partner organisations.
Winners were announced across several categories, including Resilience, Growth, Inspiration, Giving Back, and Volunteering, with nominations drawn from staff and volunteers across local services.
One winner said: "When you give back to people, you're not giving back to people you are giving it to yourself as well.
"Because it's them who make you who you are and it gives me the strength to carry on."
Another award recipient said: "Without the support of everybody in the services, I just wouldn't be where I am."
Stoke Recovery Service explained how the awards shine a light on the people and partnerships transforming lives in Stoke-on-Trent.
They hope to help reduce stigma, strengthen communities, and show that recovery from drugs and alcohol challenges is possible with the right support network.
Stoke Recovery Service offers a wide range of support and services from regular drop-ins with trained recovery workers, to one-to-one sessions, harm reduction advice, family support, aftercare support, and recovery groups.
