A local charity which has been operating for almost 50 years has submitted plans for a new headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent city centre.

North Staffordshire Mind, which was founded in 1976, provides innovative mental health services across Staffordshire.

The charity has submitted a planning application for the demolition of its existing office on Marsh Street South, Hanley, and the "erection of a new office building with cafe, associated access and parking".

The new development would form a North Staffordshire Mind headquarters and would offer a huge range of facilities including a bigger meeting room, sensory room, outside space and zoned counselling areas.

The charity was founded in 1976 and provides mental health services (Nub News).

A Design and Access Statement, submitted as part of the application, says: "Services and facilities that are currently offered at the existing office would be provided in the building, but there is an aspiration to develop a flexibility in the building design that will allow the building to adapt to NS Mind's needs.

"The existing car park will largely remain the same in terms of its size and location, with access improved and the configuration and layout of spaces being formalised."

The new headquarters would employ 84 people and be open 8am-8pm every day.

The full planning application can be viewed here.
