LIVE: Lorry fire causes significant delays on A50 through Stoke-on-Trent

A lorry fire is currently causing significant delays on the A50 through Stoke-on-Trent.

The lorry is on the westbound carriageway of the A50, just past the Blythe Bridge roundabout - Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene.

An AA Traffic Tracker is reporting: "Road closed and queueing traffic due to obstruction on the road on A50 Uttoxeter Road Westbound from A521 (Blythe Bridge Roundabout / Draycott) to B5029 Grindley Lane (Creda Roundabout / Meir Heath / Blythe Bridge).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "We are currently at the scene of a lorry fire on the A50, between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter. 

"At 10.30am this morning (Wednesday 28 August), we received a report that a heavy goods vehicle caught fire on the road. 

"A number of crews are currently in the area alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Police. 

"Firefighters are dampening down hotspots and making sure the area is safe. 

 "Recovery for the vehicle has been arranged and no-one is injured. 

"Crews are expected to start scaling back from the incident imminently."
