The Crooked House was seen as 'Britain's Wonkiest Pub' and was sold last month after nearly 200 years of trading (SWNS).

A joint investigation into the cause of the fire at Crooked House pub in Staffordshire is continuing today.

At 10.45pm on Saturday night (5 August), police were called to Himley Road following reports of an ongoing fire at the premises.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were already at the scene and were working to bring the fire under control.

Police closed the road and set up a cordon to make sure the area was safe whilst emergency services worked through the night.

The road was temporarily closed and a cordon remains in place whilst investigations continue (SWNS).

No one was inside the building at the time and no one was injured as a result of the fire.

An investigation into the cause has been launched alongside the fire service and is continuing to take place today (7 August).

Detective Inspector Richard Dancey, from CID, said: "This incident has caused a great deal of speculation locally and we understand the significance of the building within the local community.

"We would like to remind the public that our investigation is ongoing and we are reviewing all of the available evidence available alongside fire investigators to determine the cause of the incident.

"Due to the excess damage caused to the structure of the building, the cordon remains in place today and we're asking people to avoid the area."
