Investigation to begin after fire at derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent

An investigation is set to begin after a huge fire at a derelict pottery factory in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday evening.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue was first alerted to a fire at the partially demolished J. H. Weatherby Falcon Pottery factory on Old Town Road in Hanley at 9:05pm on Monday (1 September).
Three fire engines were at the scene along with an aerial ladder platform after huge plumes of smoke and flames was seen by passersby.
Now an investigation is set to start after the fire was fully extinguished.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: "A We were called at 9.05pm yesterday (Monday 1 September) to Old Town Road, Hanley, following reports of smoke coming from the area.
"Three appliances and our aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene and found a derelict building well alight.
"Crews used a main jet, hose reel jet and the ALP to extinguish the fire and nobody was reported injured.
"An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course."
