Florist trading in Stoke-on-Trent for decades relocates to new town centre shop

A floristry business which has been trading in Stoke-on-Trent for decades is opening at a new location from today.
Parsley & Sage has opened at the Longton Exchange Shopping Centre and will close its Trentham Road site in the summer.
The florist has been trading in the city for over 25 years - providing creative arrangements for gifts, weddings, funerals, birthdays and events. The new unit will also host the company's wedding showroom, floristry training and events once fully complete.
Owner, Candice Scanlan, from Longton, took over the business in 2011 and says she's looking forward to being in the centre of the town.
Candice told Stoke Nub News: "We needed more of a high street presence as we are so far out of town on Trentham Road and there is no footfall so most of our business is online or over the phone.
"Being back in the community is great - I'm a Longton girl and a lot of the staff are too and it is nice to be part of it again.
"Longton Exchange reached out to us but it didn't take me long to say 'yes, absolutely'.

"The unit was so different but we all visualised what it could be and it just started evolving, and with upstairs it's bigger which is useful for us."
The opening day started with launch-day offers and free flowers being handed out at the door.
Throughout the year, Parsley & Sage will be renting out the upstairs space to local artists who want to host their own workshops and Candice will be running 1-1 training sessions for people who want to become florists.
This opening is just the latest success story for the Longton Exchange precinct, which hosts a wide range of independent shops and eateries offering natural dog treats, tarot card readings, books, pottery painting and more.
Candice added: "Floristry is so popular and it's so important. We offer something for everybody, myself and the team put a lot of passion into creating something different.
"You can pick flowers up from everywhere now but I think it's what you do with them so our key focus is the design but it doesn't make it any more expensive than having them from anywhere else and it doesn't make us any less approachable.
"We do a lot of funerals and very passionate about that because we understand what it means to the family and we're the recommended wedding florist for lots of venues throughout the city big and small."
