Firefighters were called to extinguish a wildfire involving allotments in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 16 July) to Hanley Road in Sneyd Green following reports of a fire.

Three appliances attended the scene and found a number of allotments "well alight".

The fire had also spread to nearby trees, hedges and fences.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was extinguished using two extended hose reel jets and two main jets.

"Thankfully nobody was reported injured."

The service said an investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.
