Crews are currently at the scene of a "large" fire involving a derelict building in Tunstall.

As firefighters tackle the blaze, High Street and Roundwell Street have been closed and people have been advised to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: "Crews are currently at the scene of a large fire in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

"High Street and Roundwell Street are both closed while crews work to extinguish a fire involving a derelict building.

"People are advised to avoid the area and local residents are urged to keep windows and doors closed."

In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: "We have five pumps and an aerial ladder platform at a building fire in the centre of Tunstall. Please avoid the area."

Staffordshire Police also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers are currently at the scene of a large fire in Tunstall alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
