Staffordshire Fire and Rescue has extinguished a fire at the site of a former car dealership in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Crews from Hanley, Newcastle and Sandyford were sent to the former Lymedale Motors and V12 Sports & Classics site on the A34 after the fire service was alerted to the incident at 8:31pm on Tuesday (15 July).

The fire appears to have centred around a fencing panel that some of the old signage was attached to and the area has been cordoned off with police tape.

The A34 was closed in both directions while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

Three fire engines and an officer were in attendance along with Staffordshire Police.

It does not appear that the fire spread to the main building of the former car dealership and the A34 has since reopened.

Stoke Nub News has approached Staffordshire Fire and Rescue and Staffordshire Police for an update.
