A family-run company in Stoke-on-Trent could open a huge new base in the city, if permission is granted by the city council.

A planning application submitted this week revealed that SFD Group is seeking permission to open inside a brand-new industrial warehouse off James Brindley Way.

SFD Group is a family-run company that manufactures and supplies timber and composite door sets nationwide.

Founded in 2016, the business produces top-rated fire doors for industry and public sector clients including the NHS.

The planning application is for the erection of two flag poles, four new externally illuminated company logo signs and a new external dust extraction unit.

The new business would be open 6pm-5pm Monday to Friday and 6am-12pm on Saturday and would create 38 full-time jobs.

There is already 45 car parking spaces, six cycle spaces and two disability spaces on the site.

A decision is expected in the coming months.
