Plans have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to install electric vehicle charging points on a busy retail park off the A50.
Osprey Charging Network is proposing a substation, eight ultra-rapid electric vehicle charge points and associated electrical infrastructure for Phoenix Retail Park.
Three parking spaces will be lost to make room for the new substation.
The design and access statement submitted as part of the application says the charging points will increase footfall at the retail park.
It states: "The proposed development will have minimal visual impact to the local area, as the chargers and associated infrastructure are limited to 2.3 metres in height; and as it will be completely contained within the wider site's existing car park.
"To minimise disruption to the site, both during construction, and once operational, the charge points and infrastructure have been located within a single area of the car park and away from the busiest parking spaces nearer to the entrance of the pub."
Charging points have already been installed on the nearby Costa car park.
