Dog treated for smoke inhalation after house fire in Stoke-on-Trent

A dog has been treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire this afternoon in Stoke-on-Trent.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue was alerted to a fire caused by a tumble dryer at a house on Jesmond Grove, in Blurton, at 12:20pm today (15 July).
There were no injuries reported but a dog was given oxygen at the scene after breathing in the smoke and has been taken to the vets "as a precaution".
Two fire engines were at the scene and the junction of Jesmond Grove and Ingleby Road was blocked off while the fire service dealt with the incident.
Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire on the ground floor of the house and the fire service is reminding people to clean the filters of their tumble dryers regularly.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters have extinguished a house fire that was caused by a tumble dryer in Stoke-on-Trent today (Tuesday 15 July).
"We were called to Jesmond Grove, Blurton, at 12.20pm following reports of smoke coming from a dryer.
"Two appliances attended the scene and used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish a fire on the ground floor.
"Nobody was reported injured but a dog was given oxygen at the scene after suffering smoke inhalation. The dog has been taken to the vets as a precaution.
"The fire was deemed to have been caused by a tumble dryer fire.
"We are reminding people to clean dryer filters regularly and remove fluff, and remember not to overload plug sockets."
