A new development of 122 flats and houses could be built in Stoke-on-Trent if a planning application is approved.

Keepmoat Homes Ltd have submitted an application to build a mix of one-to-four-bedroom dwellings including 31 affordable homes, on land off Magdalen Road, Blurton.

They explained that the plans have been informed by meetings with planning officers and a public consultation.

The application said: "The site, currently an underutilised green space, is located offering good access to public transport, local schools, retail amenities, and employment centres.

"Key design principles include the retention and enhancement of existing landscape features, such as mature trees and hedgerows, and the incorporation of new green infrastructure to support biodiversity and visual amenity."

The proposal also includes plans to build a children's play area and retain public green space.

The application said: "Whilst there would be a loss of amenity greenspace as a result of the development, amenity greenspace would be provided as part of the new development that would be of significantly greater quality than the current situation."

Keepmoat Homes Ltd also plans to introduce several initiatives they hope will benefit the community including creating apprenticeships, offering job opportunities in the area and providing work experience placements.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council have yet to make a decision on the application.
