A day-time disco for 'grown-ups' is heading to Stoke-on-Trent this January.

'Discos for Grown Ups' will return to Kings Hall, Stoke for the ninth time on Saturday 31 January bringing music, stage dancers, and a light and laser show for all ages.

Simon Stanford, founder of Discos for Grown Ups, said: "We get loads of young people coming along, and we get older people coming along as well.

"What's great, which I love to see, is that everybody just dances together.

"Everybody knows the songs, and nobody is trying to be too cool for school. It's just a big celebration of classic dance floor hits."

The doors will open at 2pm, with the party running from 3pm to 6:30pm playing 70s soul and disco, 80s pop and 90s dance floor classics.

This is the first daytime disco that the company has hosted in Stoke-on-Trent.

Simon added: "Some people don't like to be out late, so you can finish at 6:30, get a takeaway on the way home and still be back in time to watch some terrible Saturday night TV."

The event will feature a short dance lesson from professional dance teacher, 'Disco Dancing' Derek ahead of the show, for a song which will be played later in the day.

There will also be live music performed by 'Disco Diva' Maria as well as stage dancers and a light show.

Free glow sticks and retro sweets are provided at the event, and the bar will be open to purchase drinks.

Simon explained that Discos for Grown Ups intends to provide a safe space for people of all ages to listen to music and have a dance.

He said: "People are never too old to enjoy a dance.

"We get people in wheelchairs, people on sticks, and some people who sit, watch and enjoy the music.

"But you are never too old to dance."

Tickets are available from £20.78 (including the booking fee) at the Eventbrite website here

The Stoke-on-Trent Discos for Grown Ups show will take place at King's Hall, Stoke on Saturday 31 January from 2pm.
