Crews tackle 'deliberate' fire inside derelict Stoke-on-Trent building

Firefighters have extinguished a "deliberate" fire inside a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent city centre.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called just after 4am yesterday (Wednesday 12 August) to Brunswick Street in Hanley following reports of a fire.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three appliances and our aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene and found a small fire inside a derelict building.

"The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet and thankfully nobody was reported injured."

Crews left the scene at around 6am.

The service said cause of the fire was deemed to be "deliberate".
