Council-run leisure centres across Stoke-on-Trent are set to open their doors for a free open weekend.

During the Active Stoke open weekend which will run Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1, staff will be providing a variety of free activities for visitors to participate in, including spinning, yoga, badminton, football and more.

There will be opportunities for people to try new activities, get a feel of the community spirit, and discover all the fantastic services.

The open weekend will run at:

  • Wallace Centre: Friday 29 September, 12pm-6.30pm
  • Fenton Manor: Saturday 30 September, 10am-4pm
  • Dimensions: Sunday 1 October, 10am-4pm

Visitors will have the opportunity to try new activities and discover the services that the local leisure centres have on offer (Google).

During the weekend people will also be able to sign up for a membership at one of the centres and automatically get upgraded to global membership (access to all Stoke-on-Trent City Council leisure centres).

Council leader Jane Ashworth said: "We hope as many of you will come along to the open weekend as possible to get a taster of what our leisure centres have to offer, as I know often the idea of going it alone or committing to an annual membership can be daunting. Our friendly team will be on hand to help, advise and provide guidance.

"Our leisure centres are such a hub of fun and community spirit, we host classes for all ages and many of our members say they feel like they are part of one big family. So come and take a closer look, try something new and take advantage of our exclusive open weekend membership upgrade!"

Full details on the programme of events for the weekend can be found on the Active Stoke website.
