The Red House, in Caverswall, hosted an afternoon of Christmas markets yesterday, complete with a visit from Santa.

Around ten small local businesses set up a stall at the pub, including TTF Home & Gifts, Sabrina's Scentsy and Chocolate Bouquets.

Festive hot drinks and turkey and stuffing sandwiches were also available.

For the children there was even a visit from Santa and one of his elves.

The Red House first hosted their Christmas markets last year, and its success prompted landlady Sam Durkin to do the same this year.

She said: "Last year I noticed that there were no Christmas markets in the area so I thought I would start my own.

"It's always great to support small businesses and see the local community come together at this time of year."

Rachel Thomas, owner of Chocolate Bouquets, said: "I held my first stall here last Christmas and was overwhelmed by the amount of support I received from the local community.

"It's a great way of shopping locally for people and in such a fun environment to do so."
