A brand-new 'charity shop with a twist' that aims to give back to the local community has opened in Hanley town centre.

Local charity, Chit Chat 4 U All, opened their 'Artisan World' store inside The Potteries Centre on Saturday 25 May.

Chit Chat 4 U All is a youth charity that works with young people, completes knife sweeps across the city and provides detached youth work in Hanley.

One of the Directors, Larissa Cooke, told Nub News: "As a charity we work with young people but we are also passionate about supporting local businesses and traders.

The shop stocks a huge range of products from local business and traders (Nub News).

"We began by doing markets then we progressed to this new shop where the local businesses have come in and set up stalls to sell their products."

The new shop sells a huge range of products including clothes, cupcakes and milkshakes, handmade jewellery, shoes, dolls houses, art work, ornaments, children's books, pebble art and glass art.

Larissa continued: "We also deliver training as well so if someone wants to start their own business we can take them through the whole process and we also deliver mentoring.

"We're very much about supporting the community so all proceeds go on local projects. We've already brought in control bleed kits but we want to bring knife amnesty bins to Hanley next."

Lynsey Rogers, who owns local business, Peek a Book, has a stall inside the shop (Nub News).

Local trader, Lynsey Rogers who owns Peek a Book, said: "For us, this is a great opportunity to out our business out there but also help the charity.

"We've all got other commitments like other jobs or children but when we come in here, we help each other out and it's a lovely community."

Chit Chat 4 U All will also be opening a diner in The Potteries Centre soon, which will be a youth work experience hub where young people can gain essential experience in the industry.

This weekend, the shop is also hosting an exciting event for young people. The first 80 children will receive a bag containing a book, colouring sheets and sweets and there will be free events such as jewellery making, glitter painting and face painting.
