BB gun seized as armed police called out to Stoke-on-Trent street

Armed officers were called out to a residential street in Stoke-on-Trent after two people were spotted with a 'gun'.

The alarm was raised at 12:50pm today (15 September) with officers called out to Erskine Street in Longton to locate the suspects.

A BB gun was handed over by two teenage boys and they were 'spoken to' by officers.

The BB gun has been seized by Staffordshire Police and an investigation into the incident is now underway.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to Erskine Street in Longton, at 12.50pm today (Monday 15 September) following a report that two people had a gun in the street.

"Armed officers were quickly sent to the scene to search for the suspects.

"Two teenage boys were spoken to and a bb gun was handed over and seized.

"Firearms officers have left the scene and the investigation will be dealt with by neighbourhood officers."
