Longton Exchange Shopping Centre is set to begin refurbishment works as it looks to create Longton's own Arts and Cultural Quarter.

In 2019 Longton Exchange, through a programme of works, underwent refurbishments to modernise the precinct. The final quarter of the shopping area, from Iceland to Specsavers and Market Street will soon see a colourful transformation.

Centre Manager, Chris Ward said: "Many of our units have been empty for a good number of years and the centre is looking to bring them back to life!

"Eight of the eleven units along this stretch will soon see an internal refurbishment plan of rewiring and painting, updating the units to modern standards.

In addition, all the external canopies and facades will be repaired, and each unit will receive a fresh new individual look".

Longton Exchange has appointed local company Total Designs to undertake the works.

Total Designs Managing Director Leigh Walker said: "We're extremely excited to be awarded this contract as Longton Exchange is our local shopping centre and we have many years of experience in this town".

The works that began the week commencing the 7th of November have been in discussions and planning between the centre and the contractor for a number of months.

The project is expected to take between 2-3 months to complete.
